iMac first thoughts

Wow, that's screen's big. 27" turns out to be wide enough to block my printer. I'll have to do some desk rearranging when I get a chance.

I got various Adobe products installed but haven't had a chance to do too much with it yet. For one thing the monitor's not calibrated yet.

I did run the free version of Geekbench and in 32 bit mode my MacBook Pro does 3885 (2.8 core 2 duo, 4 GB RAM) and the iMac does 8357 (2.8 Core i7, 8 GB RAM). It seems reasonably zippy but I haven't done anything really intense with it yet.

First impressions of the new keyboard and mouse are very positive.

I'm working on my laptop finishing up this set. I'll probably transfer things over to the iMac for the final steps if I can get the monitor calibrated without any trouble. Hopefully it will be done tonight...

Update - Calibration went smoothly and I did the final steps editing the Zinn set with the new machine. It's very zippy - it does some operations literally ten times faster than my PC did. I looked online and the iMac Geekbench score for 64 bit is around 9500 - very impressive.
