Post Shoot Notes: Yosemite

I don't manage it every year, but around my birthday turns out to be a great time to visit Yosemite. Tons of snow on the ground but not actually falling from the sky which is pretty ideal as far as I'm concerned. I ended up skipping the usual 4WD rental and took the Honda which was barely fine - you had to go slow over icy patches and a couple of idiots who didn't know how to drive in the ice were funny enough we stopped to watch them try to get out of their parking spaces, but all the main roads were perfectly safe. (although you should always carry chains in that part of the world).

The 5D did great on the landscape stuff - it's so nice to have a full frame sensor with a relatively wide lens but also to grab the 40D with a long lens and blast away like crazy when there's a critter (we saw a couple of coyotes and a bobcat). I'm hoping to get back to my roots and do more nature photograhy this year so that should be a nice combination.
